diamond in the rough: Desktop Manager

the 0.5.0 release of Desktop Manager is way impressive. it's alpha quality software, mind you, but it already does almost everything I used CodeTek Virtual Desktop Pro for, and does it "even nicer".

0.5.0 fixes the problem with Path Finder's desktop getting switched out. that alone would be enough to delight. (it also seems happier with Exposé. cool!)

but, finally, the obvious is now realized: when switching desktops by moving the cursor to the edge of the screen, Desktop Manager can optionally apply a Quartz transition to move you between desktops. transitions include the desktop-as-rotating-cube seen in Fast User Switching and a number of the very cool slide transitions available in Keynote.

Swap Over is my current fav.

keep an eye on this one!

(and, yes, the SourceForge project name is Workspace Manager which makes a whole helluvalot more sense to me. NX forever!)
