wine news: more potential health benefits

Excellent news from researchers at UIC: compounds in red wine may be "bacteria busters" and may offer some protection against lung infections (like pneumonia and bronchitis), heart disease, and may even help the fight against certain gastrointestinal bugs. Meanwhile, scientists in Italy are trying to condense all this goodness into pill form, for those who don't/shouldn't consume alcoholic beverages.

And...on top of all this, Governor Pataki of New York has added a measure to his budget proposal which would make New York a reciprocal shipping state. And to think we've been waiting for the Second Circuit to make direct shipment from out-of-state producers/sources to New York consumers a reality... Here's hoping the New York legislature doesn't fight the opening of the New York market.
